Ability to set different impression caps in the Pulse UI on share of voice and impression goals, and ability to handle the impression caps through the Goal API.
Daily and hourly impression caps on share of voice and impression goals
The ability to configure share of voice and impression goals, both normal and sponsor, has been extended. Previously, you could only set total impression caps on share of voice goals and daily impression caps on impression goals. Now, you can also set daily and hourly impression caps on share of voice goals, and hourly impression caps on impression goals, both normal and sponsor. This provides you with more control around delivery pacing and distribution during the entire goal period, and reduces the amount of manual work previously needed to achieve this.
- If you get less inventory than you needed, you are not going to reach the hourly and/or daily cap, which then leads to wasted inventory.
- If you get more inventory than you expected, Pulse cannot make use of that extra inventory in a good way.
- Delivery information is re-evaluated at fixed intervals, currently approximately every 5 minutes. This means that regardless of the cap, if the cap is reached within the update window, some over-delivery will occur during that time.
To set the daily and/or hourly impression cap when creating a new normal mode or sponsor mode share of voice or impression goal, open the Add new goal page and check the Use daily impression cap and/or Use hourly impression cap, and enter a number to limit the daily and/or hourly amount of impressions delivered for that goal.
The configured impression caps are displayed in the Goal overview within the Impression caps field in the following order: Total/Daily/Hourly, as applicable based on goal type. For goals that do not support the impression caps, you see 'N/A'.
You can also set the daily and/or hourly impression cap for an existing share of voice and impression goal by double-clicking the Goal field in the Campaign Goals list. This opens the Edit goal target window where you can define the different impression caps.
Impression caps available through the Goal REST API
Previously, you could configure impression caps only through the Pulse user interface. Now, support for caps has been added in the Goal REST API, which means you can handle total, daily, and hourly impression caps through the https://api.videoplaza.com/api/1.0.cpvext/goal set of endpoints.
